Content Flow Chart

On the image below, there is basic content flow chart for my Castle Guide.

Images and Flash Galleries

Last time, we should think about images and their presentation in our applications.

In Victory, there is a list of tutorials covering a range of different options:

• Click Through Gallery (Tutvid)
• Gallery with Next/Back Buttons (RiverCityGrafix)
• Dynamically loading external images (Tutvid)
• Pixel Bender Filters (Adobe TV)

The Click Through Gallery is interesting, but at the beginning isn't always clear how it works.

I like the Gallery with Next/Back Buttons because is very simple and easy to understand how it works. It's classic gallery and similar galleries we can find almost everywhere so people know how to find next or previous picture. For most projects that don't need to be complicated is perfect option.

I think that tutorial with Dynamically loading external images is very useful. Especially dynamic loading of images. This can be used in many project, probably I will use is too.

The last tutorial: Pixel Bender Filters is perfect. Effects from there can be used almost everywhere. From some kind of funny galleries to help people with reading small text. 

Goals and Users of Castles Guide

Goals:

• Learn and retain
• Information about castles, events, brief history
• Have fun
• maybe in child corner
• Get answers
• Search for specific castles, destinations, events

Audience:

• age: all ages (children and adults)
• gender, education, IT experience: guide is for all people who wants to know something about slovak castles, history or events
• people who are interested in castles and history
• people who wants to know things to do nearby (alone or with their children)
• foreign people who wants to visit interesting places

Generally is the aim create interactive guide about slovak castles, history and present events.

According Goals and Audience the guide should be:

• easy to use
• informative about castles - brief description, pictures, ratings from other people, events, how to get there
• interesting also for children - simple games with castle theme

Slovak Castles Guide

I will develop in Flash an application about Slovak castles.

There can be a lot of reasons for this theme, but the main are this two:

• opportunity for using a lot of media content including text, pictures, music and videos
• lot of castles in Slovakia (at least 250 castles)

 This application should include:

• map of Slovakia with all castles
• basic information about castles with text, pictures and videos
• comments and ratings of castles
• upcoming events
• how to get to castle by car (map or link to google maps with trace)

Beginning with Flash

Aim from the last coursework is creating simple application that uses "Forward" and "Back" buttons.

I inserted text only on first two frames, but it's easy to add any text to other pages.
This is the application that I created:



When I was creating this simple application, I found Code Snippets in Flash as very useful. I didn't need to looking for navigation between frames and it is faster than coding every method.


The second part of last coursework are goals and users. I will add my ideas about it as soon as I finally decide about theme of my project. It should be this week.
